Mopping doesn’t cut it. It merely spreads the mess around, and it’s flat-out impractical for expansive commercial settings. A floor scrubbing machine saves you time and improves results. Here’s why you need one of these machines:
SweepScrub stocks the latest and greatest machines from the top brands the industry has to offer, including Tennant, Nilfisk, Clarke, Viper, and more. We also have our own private label line of machines that provide unparalleled value for the money, keeping up with the big manufacturers at a fraction of the cost.
Our team helps janitorial staffers, property managers, and entrepreneurs alike pick the perfect cleaning equipment for their team on a daily basis. Connect with our experts for one-on-one support choosing the right commercial floor scrubber now.
A commercial walk-behind floor scrubber can dramatically improve how you clean in spaces under 25,000 square feet, tight layouts, and any setting with obstacles to work around (shelving, furniture, checkout lanes, etc.). Many are self-propelled, so the operator just has to control the machine’s pace and direction. They’re highly maneuverable.
An industrial ride-on floor scrubber covers ground faster and reduces operator fatigue for warehouses, distribution centers, big-box retail stores, factories, and other massive, open layouts. The biggest machine we carry can clean 83,000+ square feet per hour.
There’s a balance to be struck - you want a large enough cleaning path that you can cover more ground, but it has to remain maneuverable enough for your space. A larger cleaning path actually becomes a hindrance if you can’t work it through aisles/around obstacles. We have everything from compact 12” machines for last-mile cleaning to 48” behemoths for big spaces.
Tank size dictates how long you can scrub before stopping to refill the solution tank or empty the recovery tank. Bigger tanks = bigger machines, and thus, more storage space is needed.
You need to make sure the pads or brushes on your machine are compatible with your floor, be it polished concrete, VCT, epoxy, tile, terrazzo, sealed stone, or anything in between. Disk brushes come standard across the lineup and work well for daily maintenance on smooth or lightly textured floors.

Absolutely. Mopping just spreads the mess around and wastes your precious labor hours. A floor scrubber pays for itself in improved productivity, protecting your flooring investment, and improving customer perception due to superior cleanliness.
Any hard flooring surface, but you have to align the pads/brushes on the scrubber with your flooring type. You have to do the same with your cleaning chemicals.
That all depends on how dirty your floor gets. It’s common for janitorial teams to scrub the floor daily in high-traffic areas like lobbies, hallways, and cafeterias. You might only scrub lower-traffic areas a few times a week.
Our walk-behind models start at $1,900ish but some of the bigger machines can easily cost mid-five figures. We encourage you to connect with our customer service team for help finding the right floor scrubber machine in your budget. We can discuss financing if need be, too!
That all depends on whether you have an expansive open layout or nooks and crannies to work around. We’ve found that a 17” cleaning path is the sweet spot for a lot of facilities because it’s highly maneuverable but still covers a good bit of ground per hour. If you don’t have anything to fit the machine around, though, you can upgrade to somewhere in the 20” or 26” model.
Go with a walk-behind machine if you have tight, cluttered spaces to clean. A ride-on machine only makes sense if you have a big enough area to clean. Think warehouses, distribution centers, indoor parking lots, etc.
Yes, and you should. There’s no better way to keep industrial buildings clean than with a floor scrubber. It saves you time and money while improving cleanliness.
You must drain and rinse both tanks after each use. Wipe down the squeegee blades and inspect the brushes or pads. You’ll replace blades/brushes/pads on a somewhat regular basis as cleaning performance starts to decline. Some batteries need specialized maintenance as well. AGM batteries are maintenance-free.
They can last decades with proper maintenance. Give your machine the care it deserves and it’ll continue to provide value for years to come.
